Approaches:
-
Trauma Informed Care is a clinicians understanding of a person's life experiences in order to provide a more comprehensive and holistic therapeutic experience.
-
An Attachment-Based approach to therapy looks at the attachment to caregivers in a persons early developmental years.
As mammals, we depend on these attachments for survival needs; food, shelter, water, clothing, sleep. As humans, we depend on these attachments for psychological needs; a sense of safety, security, belonging and acceptance.
If a need is unmet, we call this an attachment wound. These wounds are most often highlighted in maladaptive behavioral responses to intimate relationships with persons, places and things.
Repairing these attachment wounds can lead to a greater sense of self and satisfaction in relationships.
-
EMDR accesses the brain and body's innate ability to heal.
There is ALWAYS an original story. Sometimes, these original stories create negative core beliefs about the self that are at the root of maladaptive behavioral patterns resulting in Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, OCD, Eating Disorders, PMDD, Chronic Pain, Addiction and more.
In EMDR, we identify these beliefs, desensitize the associated survival response (fight, flight, freeze or fawn) and reprocess with more adaptive beliefs to create change.
-
A Jungian approach to therapy utilizes a persons dreams, active imagination, fantasy, art and play to raise self awareness, recover the shadow self and create more desirable behavioral patterns.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a collaborative approach to healing. CBT is raising an awareness of how a person's thought patterns affect their behavioral patterns, with a focus on moving forward in order to develop adaptive coping strategies.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a form of talk therapy. It's based on CBT with extra focus on people who experience emotions intensely. DBT helps a person learn to manage & regulate intense emotion to develop healthier ways to cope.
